WHY in Business and Hobbies can we only sell items placed on special shelving??

I just found out that in order to sell anything in this DLC, it must be placed on the provided shelving units. I own Get to Work, and in that pack you can mark items for sale regardless of what they're placed on.
Why is this not possible here?
I specifically bought this DLC to sell repaired electronics, handmade furniture, and similar items. I’m extremely disappointed that such a basic feature—selling items—is this restricted.
There are so many crafting and repair activities in the game now, but they don’t work with the business features of this DLC. What’s the point of adding all this content if we can’t even sell it properly?
Please fix this. This is not just a missing feature, it feels like a major design oversight.

  • I have noticed some retail restrictions in this EP as well.

I feel like GTW's retail system along with City Livings Come and Get It street store table offer more control in what you can sell as a vendor or business owner.

  • B&H is focused on skills, classes, and activities. Retail was a significant focus of Get to Work. Ergo, B&H does not revisit retail, as Get to Work covers it, and the B&H approach is "You went to a pottery class and can buy a few pieces on your way out" and not full retail shopping. B&H is about running a venue, GTW is about running a store- they're distinct concepts.

I believe they should've blended the two together more, but the focus is completely different and it makes sense.

You can use Marco's Small Business Overhaul to get a proper restocking system going that even works in businesses visited as the player, and I made a significant handful of mods for things like this to work better too.

I can’t see the difference between selling small sculptures for shelves and large floor-standing ones, because both have exactly the same gameplay flow. But we’re able to sell the first, while the second we can’t. That doesn’t seem right.
And I don’t want to use mods — I paid $40 for a DLC, not to craft the game myself. It’s a matter of principle.

    Agreed!

We're not paying to have mods fix the game. We want DLC that works and is compatible with other existing DLC in the game.

you can't understand the difference between a hobby class having a little gift shop area and a dedicated retail store?

You paid 40 dollars for a DLC that doesnt do or claim to do what you want it to do- if you wanted it to do this so badly, you probably shouldn't have paid 40 dollars for it. I dont go buy a burger and then complain it's not a taco. I go to taco bell or I simply don't buy a burger.

  • I bought a burger and bit into a chunk of grit that almost cracked my tooth.  Turns out the cook dropped the burger on the floor and I had no idea before paying for it.

That's pretty weird considering hundreds of reviewers put out full length videos talking about the floor burgers and you had every opportunity to know what was in them before buying. Sounds like it's still your fault.

I don't disagree that the systems blending together a little would've been nice, but come on. You cannot in good conscience argue you were somehow mislead here. You plain and simply were not. This is not a retail sales pack, it is not marketed as one, and nobody ever said it would be one.

Blaming people for adding feedback on EP's that they have purchased is not good feedback in my opinion.

I think most of us understand the differences between B&H and GTW's retail systems.

The point is that it's too bad both retail systems are not compatible or connected.

It's not anyone's fault for purchasing DLC that they are interested in and there's no fault in adding feedback.

Feedback is one thing. Acting like you were lied to is another. Nobody lied to you- you purchased something expecting it to be something it never claimed to be. That's not feedback.

    The conversation went as follows:

    "This should be a thing"
"It's not a thing for these reasons, but you can mod it into being a thing"
"I don't want to use mods for it to be a thing, I paid 40 dollars for it to be a thing"
"Nobody ever told you it was going to be a thing, you bought it knowing it wasn't the thing"
    "Nuh uh, I was blindsided"
    "You were not blindsided"
"Why are you trying to stop me from providing my feedback???"

Provide feedback all you want but if you have to pretend you were lied to maybe it's bad feedback or you're not communicating it properly.

I think there's a big difference in expressing disappointment or dissatisfaction with a product then blatantly coming out and saying a company lied to me about their product.

This thread is not about exposing a lie. This feedback is about expressing the differences between two retail systems and the desire for more compatibility.

    You don't have to agree.
